Nestled on the shore of Loch na Cairidh in the hamlet of Ard Dorch on the Isle of Skye, Oir na Mara - Gaelic for Edge of the Sea - offers unrivalled views of rural Scotland across the water. From the volcanic cone of Dun Caan rising high above the island of Raasay to the deer that gather on the point of Scalpay opposite the house, Oir na Mara will captivate you from the moment you arrive.
Positioned away from the road, down on the edge of the loch, the sheltered position brings tremendous opportunities to catch views of the seals, sea otters, dolphins and seabirds that can frequent the area as well as an occasional glimpse of a white tailed sea eagle.
Lovingly restored from an ageing croft house in the year 2000, Oir na Mara has been furnished with a modern element to bring the most from its fantastic location. Floor-to-ceiling windows make the most of the breathtaking views while underfloor heating keeps the building warm and dry on those cooler days.
Only 20 minutes drive from the Skye bridge, 5 miles from the local amenities of Broadford and 20 miles from Portree (the capital of the island) Oir na Mara lies within easy reach of all areas of Skye and is a great place to relax after spending time further afield in the outer isles.
The house comfortably sleeps up to 4 people in 2 double-bedded rooms. All bed linen and towels are provided. WiFi internet access is free, however speeds and reliability are limited due to our location.
