Can I bring my children?

Unfortunately we dont allow children under 12 at Oir na Mara. It is our decision that the setup of the house and surrounding landscape is not suitable or safe for children under that age.

Can I bring my pet?

Unfortunately we have a no pets policy.

How do I book?

We use Airbnb for our booking, click the book button to travel to the Airbnb website, choose the dates that you would like to visit and follow the instructions.

How much is the deposit?

To secure a booking we require a deposit of 25% of the total and we will send you an invoice once we have received this payment. The balance becomes due 6 weeks prior to arrival when we will send you a statement. We also ask that you complete a booking form and read our booking terms.

I click on book and am taken to a different website, is that right?

Yes, we use Airbnb for our bookings so clicking the booking link will take you there for booking.

How do I check Availability?

I want more/less than a weeks booking, is that possible?

Unfortunately, at this time we only allow bookings of complete weeks, running from Saturday to Saturday. Sorry if this is of an inconvenience.

What time can I arrive at Oir na Mara?

You're welcome to arrive any time after 4pm, the key is held in a key-safe which you will have access to at any time.
If you want to arrive earlier, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to make that happen.

What time do I have to check out by?

Check out is by 10am on the morning of departure.
If you need a late check out, please contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate your requirements.

Are there any beaches nearby?

Skye has a rocky coastline, beaches are few and far between however our favorites are Talisker Bay, The coral beaches near Dunvegan and Staffin beach. Maps are available in the house.

Is there mobile phone reception and WiFi?

Mobile phone reception is normally good at Oir na Mara, however is very varied across the island, especially in the mountains. Free WiFi is available in the house, although due to our location, speeds and reliability are limited. Internet is usually bearable for e-mails and basic web browsing, you just need some patience! WiFi is however also available from some cafes and pubs across the island.

Is there a washing machine at Oir na Mara?

Yes, a washing machine is for use in the house however for tumble-drying or large loads, there is a laundrette in Broadford that is available for use.

Can I purchase food and supplies in the local area after I arrive?

Yes. This is all covered in the accommodation information booklet which will be sent to you upon booking. There are several local shops and a co-op in Broadford that you will pass on your way to Oir na Mara as well as in Portree and the Kyle of Localsh. Tesco & Asda also provide an online delivery service for a charge. While this isnt provided to the door, it can be collected from a pre-arranged carpark in Broadford.

Is there a petrol station nearby?

Broadford is the closest with a 24hour petrol station based at the co-op. Alternatively, the co-op in Portree as well as several small independant stations are dotted around the island.
